Returning to the crew of the Merry Songbird, here’s a couple of warforged midshipmen happily working away and occasionally manning the guns. Bolt and Spark rostered out of the Brelish army at the end of the Last War and immediately signed up with House Lyrandar’s aerial fleet to see more of the world.
Bolt is slender, built for squeezing into tight spaces to repair or access machinery. He served as a sapper in The War and, as he says, spent more than his fair share of time underground in the process. Bolt is both an artificer and a scout by trade, and is happy to spend his time maintaining the gnomish-built extras adorning the ship.
Spark served in the same regiment as Bolt, but was a frontline brawler assigned to protect mage artillery stands. A wry wit and confident gait draw the eye as he purposefully moves from station to station on deck, keeping everything just so. He knows the placement of everything on the deck, and can get quite upset if anyone moves things around. Bolt occasionally does it deliberately to tease him.
These warforged ex-soldiers enjoy their new lives in the skies and are loyal to ship, crew, and House in that order. As long as no one gets in the way of their performing their duties then they are happy to engage with passengers and pass the time.
