For no particular reason I opened up HeroForge this afternoon and began playing around in the settings. I didn’t have a particular figure in mind, but this character quickly formed so I couldn’t say no. This is Riley Featherlane, known to their fans as The Rising Pen.

Born with magic in their bloodline, Riley’s sorcerous power manifested quickly. All sorts of minor accidents and incidents were soon traced to them. Even though no one was harmed, their parents decided that they needed to find someone who could take Riley on as an apprentice. Within six months, Riley was bored and sneaking away to taverns. They discovered that people liked to hear them tell jokes and stories – and would pay money to do so. So Riley adopted a stage name: The Rising Pen. It was a joke about how they were abandoning their studies to tell stories.

And so now, to the dismay of their parents, and the delight of audiences, The Rising Pen tours. They use their adventures as material for their act, and their travelling companions as the butt of their jokes.
