While sorting out odds and ends for table decorations for the wedding I saw a couple of items in the warehouse and my brain went ‘click’ – I’ve a small collection of crysals and semi-precious stones that I’ve accumulated over the years and I’ve mostly been keeping them in a bag in a drawer for lack of anywhere to put them – and with that magpie regard for shiny objects I was loathe to throw them out.
Then I saw some small fishbowls and some small electronic candles that were roughly tea-light size and realised that for under a fiver I could make something quite pretty – so this is now living on the windowsill of our hallway where the reflected light from the flickering LEDs in the wick look like a candle in the window for whichever of us is returning home after dark – with the added bonus that as its powered by a lithium watch battery it won’t burn down, or indeed burn down the house if left unattended – or drain the household electricity budget for that matter.
Simple things pleasing simple minds and all that…
