Map – River Crossing

I introduced this map right at the end of the most recent session as the venue for the wedding of Karkanna and Kerne. It’s a simple layout of a bridge across a stream with bushes and trees along the path – I’ve got some editing to do ahead of next session to include some more ceremonial and decorative elements for the event but this is the basic idea.

Most of these maps when autogenerating tend to default to a vertical or horizontal river, but I wanted a more natural and irregular stream so I carved and filled the course to make it run diagonally top right to bottom left so that the bridge could cross on an opposing diagonal in the middle of the map. This made the bridge the main focus and I then painted dirt trails either side, with flowers, bushes, and rocks. There’s also a small roadside shrine by the pathway with some candles lit in front of it.

Lady M, when describing where she wanted to hold the wedding described a place halfway between the two Holds in the recently cleared pass. As she was describing what she intended, I went searching among what I’d recently made to see if I could avoid having to make something from scratch. I’d anticipated something being in a building rather than outdoors so had a couple of alternatives already set up like the Bear and Bee tavern or the Golden Dragon Feast House. The Golden Dragon will likely end up as the venue for the wedding feast, and we had a battle at the Bear and Bee so they weren’t wasted efforts.

If you’d like to see or download the original Dungeon Alchemist map, I’ve shared it in my Steam Workshop at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2969389327
