I managed to persuade the boy to come with me to a staff network social this evening that combined good company with a private showing of an exhibition of 50 LGBTQ+ people who have changed the world. I’m especially proud that he was able to leave the flat with me to meet people he didn’t know.
Burgers, lasagne, and chips followed at a nearby Beefeaters pub, and the boy was observed to relax, laugh, and enjoy the company and ongoing silliness.
What a relief. Lady M was out at an awards ceremony and won’t be back tonight, while the cub stayed home and played games for the couple of hours we were out. Despite his protestations of boredom, we did get big hugs when we got in.
It was a much needed contrast to a day of difficulties, and a good reminder of how good people generally are
